On November 14, 2025, Cedar and Ruby Health Alliance, in collaboration with the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), successfully hosted a one-day free health screening in commemoration of World Diabetes Day 2025.
This year’s theme, “Diabetes and Well-being,” focused on promoting healthy living, early detection, and improved community awareness around Type 2 diabetes.
Event Highlights
The event recorded an impressive turnout as community members came together to learn more about diabetes, check their health status, and receive professional support.
Key activities included:
Free health screening for Type 2 diabetes and hypertension
One-on-one counseling sessions with qualified medical experts
Free medical donations to participants
Health education workshops on early detection, prevention, and lifestyle management
These activities were designed to empower individuals with the knowledge and resources needed to take control of their health.
Community Participation & Support
We were honored to have the support and participation of:
National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members
Nigerian Red Cross Society volunteers
Their involvement contributed greatly to the smooth running of the event and enriched the overall experience for attendees.
Impact & Advocacy
This initiative was part of our broader mission to combat the rising prevalence of diabetes in Nigeria through awareness, screening, and education. Cedar and Ruby Health Alliance and its partners recorded 344 people in attendance, and of those:
210 were screened and found to have a mild form of type-2 diabetes — many of whom had no prior knowledge that they were at risk.
105 attendees were screened for hypertension (with no diabetes diagnosis).
All participants received free medication to treat their identified conditions.
The event contributed significantly to community wellbeing and strengthened advocacy around early detection — a key factor in preventing severe complications of type 2 diabetes.
Cedar and Ruby Health Alliance remains committed to ongoing health outreach programs, partnerships, and education that promote healthier communities.
We extend our gratitude to all participants, volunteers, medical experts, and partner organizations who made this event a success. Together, we are championing a healthier future, one community at a time.
