On April 4, the Cedar and Ruby Health Alliance (CRHA) took over Udoudoma Field in Uyo for a powerful cause: Physical Fitness Day.
Our event, “Don’t Sit, Get Fit,” was more than just a workout—it was a call to action. We brought together CRHA volunteers, organizational members, and the local community to break the cycle of sedentary living and embrace the energy of an active lifestyle.
The Energy at Udoudoma Field
The morning was filled with collective movement and shared goals. From guided stretches to high-energy drills, participants of all fitness levels pushed their limits.
A Wake-Up Call for Our Bodies
While the event was full of smiles, the following day brought a physical reminder of why our mission is so critical. Many participants reported joint discomfort and muscle stiffness—a common reaction when the body is reintroduced to movement after prolonged periods of inactivity.
This “day-after” feedback highlights a growing health concern: our bodies are designed to move, yet modern life often keeps us seated. That temporary soreness is a sign that it’s time to make fitness a daily habit, not just a one-time event.
Why We Move
At Cedar and Ruby Health Alliance, our advocacy is rooted in long-term wellness. Daily physical activity is one of the most effective ways to reduce the risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. By organizing events like “Don’t Sit, Get Fit,” we aim to reinforce the importance of integrating movement into your everyday routine—whether it’s a morning walk, a quick stretch, or a full workout.

What’s Next?
Don’t let the momentum stop at Udoudoma Field. We want to thank everyone who came out and gave it their all. Remember: Your health is an investment, not an expense. Keep moving, stay hydrated, and let’s continue to fight the risks of inactivity together.
