Cedar and Ruby Health Alliance (CRHA) has officially launched its Community CPR and Basic Life Support Training Program in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The event, which attracted over 200 participants from diverse backgrounds including teachers, students, market women, and community leaders, aimed to equip everyday citizens with life-saving skills. Attendees were trained on how to recognize and respond to emergencies such as cardiac arrest, choking, and fainting, using practical demonstrations and hands-on sessions.
According to the program coordinator, many deaths that occur in public spaces can be prevented if people are armed with basic CPR knowledge. This initiative marks a step forward in CRHA’s vision of creating healthier and safer communities in Nigeria.
“This training has changed how I see emergencies. Now I feel confident that I can help someone until professional medical help arrives,” said Gloria Effiong, a secondary school teacher who participated in the training.
The event concluded with a call for volunteers and partners to support the program so it can expand into more schools, churches, and marketplaces across Akwa Ibom State.
