Theresa B. Okon is the Founder of Cedar and Ruby Health Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting preventive health and lifesaving education. A Nigerian citizen currently based in the United States, Theresa brings together her passion for healthcare, community service, and leadership to advance health equity for the elderly and underserved.
She began her journey in healthcare as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), where she gained hands-on experience in patient care. To strengthen her capacity, she earned a CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, equipping her to teach lifesaving skills with confidence and expertise. Beyond healthcare, she pursued a Master’s degree in Mass Communication and a Certificate in Data Analysis from the University of Arkansas, blending advocacy, communication, and analytical skills to support impactful nonprofit leadership.
Theresa is also a proven leader. At the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, she served as a Senator in the Student Government Association and as Secretary on the Board of Directors of the African American Female Initiative, advancing initiatives for empowerment and representation. Her service continues in the wider community as a volunteer with the American Red Cross, Arkansas–Missouri Region, where she supports emergency response and community resilience programs.
With a heart for the elderly and underserved, Her vision is clear: healthier, more resilient communities where knowledge and compassion save lives every day. The founder believes that health equity begins at the community level — by empowering the underserved, protecting the elderly, and equipping the next generation with lifesaving tools. This conviction forms the heart of Cedar and Ruby Health Alliance’s work: to learn, to act, and to save lives.
Every contribution matters — whether through giving or volunteering. Together, we can reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease, empower communities with life-saving skills, and create a healthier tomorrow.
