Cedar and Ruby Health Alliance Marks World Heart Day 2025 with School Outreach in Akwa Ibom

World Heart Day, observed globally on September 29th, is a reminder of the importance of heart health and the need to prevent cardiovascular diseases through awareness, education, and lifestyle changes. This year, Cedar and Ruby Health Alliance (CRHA) took the celebration beyond hospitals and clinics, straight into the classrooms of Akwa Ibom State.

As part of the World Heart Day 2025 activities, the CRHA team visited several schools across Akwa Ibom to engage students and teachers in conversations about the heart, healthy living, and preventive care. The initiative highlighted the fact that it’s never too early to learn how to protect one’s heart.

To make the campaign practical and impactful, CRHA introduced Health Clubs in participating schools. These clubs are designed to serve as platforms where students and teachers can learn and practice Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Basic Life Support (BLS) skills. With these lifesaving techniques, young people are not only empowered to respond to emergencies but also to become advocates for healthier communities.

In addition to the training, CRHA distributed writing materials to students—supporting their education while emphasizing the connection between knowledge, health, and opportunity. This gesture particularly targeted underserved communities, ensuring that no child is left behind in the journey toward better health and learning.

Through this outreach, Cedar and Ruby Health Alliance reaffirmed its commitment to building a healthier future for young people in Akwa Ibom. By blending education, preventive care, and practical training, CRHA is ensuring that the next generation is better equipped to protect their hearts—and the hearts of those around them.
